Dr Blumenthal is an experienced Obstetrician & Gynaecologist practicing in the North Western Suburbs of Sydney.
After studying medicine at the University of Witwatersrand, he qualified in 1975. He then specialized in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and became a Fellow of the South African College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FCOG-SA) in 1981. The same year, Dr Blumenthal was made a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) in England.
He immigrated to Sydney in 1982 and, after working at Westmead Hospital as the senior Fellow for 3 years, Dr Blumenthal became a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).
Since his election to the Fellowship, he was appointed as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) to Blacktown Hospital and an Affiliate at Westmead Hospital. Dr Blumenthal has also practiced as a consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at The Hills Private Hospital and The Sydney Adventist Hospital.
During his training and subsequent years, he has had subspecialty interests in laparoscopic surgery, where he trained with Professor Bruhat in France and Dr Ray Gary in England. Dr Blumenthal is currently a foundation member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society (AGES). He is also a member of the Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ACCP) and the Australian Menopause Society (AMS).

- laparoscopic hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus);
- endometriosis (endometrial tissue growing outside the uterus);
